Cessna 175B G-ARML Maintenance History In brief, maintenance has been thorough and focussed on safety and reliability rather than low cost. I have maintained the aircraft meticulously, and prefer to replace items before they wear out or fail. Annual inspections have run at between £2500 and £3000, except for the middle year when I replaced quite a few components including control cables, tyres, and various other components and had the engine removed and inspected after the generator shaft failure in case it had done any damage to the drive gears, which were completely undamaged. Various other electrical components including the voltage regulator have also been changed as a precaution. That annual inspection included a lot of renewal, which will not be required again for many years. I have all of the airframe and engine logs from when it was imported in 1962. It spent all of its life in the East Anglia/Midlands area, where it was maintained by The College of Aeronautics at Cranfield initially, then McAlpine Aviation at Luton, Rogers Aviation at Bedford and other well know names in British general aviation in the 60’s and 70’s. |
