Running Costs Running costs will vary! I have outlined the running costs I have experienced but yours will depend upon your particular circumstances. I have found the costs to be typical of a light aircraft of this age and type. Insurance. I have about 500 hrs in 172 family aircraft and 1400 hrs total time, and insurance is about £1600 a year, including crown indemnity and an insured value of £32,000. Fuel. I flight plan 105 kts block to block, and a fuel burn of 30 litres per hour. Oil. The engine has consumed negligable oil between scheduled oil changes (0.06 lts/hr) Annuals. Annual inspections have run at between £2500 and £3000, except for the middle year when I replaced quite a few components including control cables, tyres, and various other components and had the engine removed and inspected after a generator shaft failure in case it had done any damage to the drive gears. They were completely undamaged. Various other electrical components including the voltage regulator have also been changed as a precaution. Parking depends entirely on your location.
